Psychologist
Penny is a registered psychologist with a Masters in Educational and Development Psychology from RMIT University. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and has many years of experience working with children and adolescents in private practice, clinic, school and early intervention settings. She works with early school ages and young adults.
Penny assists children, teenagers and families with a range of emotional, social, developmental and behavioural difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, adjustment and trauma related disorders, addiction, anger, self-esteem issues and social issues.
Penny utilises evidence-based therapeutic approaches to meet the individual needs of her clients and has a particular focus in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills (DBT), Strength Based Therapy and Mindfulness Techniques. Penny creates a supportive, warm and non-judgemental environment for her clients to share their thoughts and feelings.
She is compassionate, empathetic and works collaboratively with her clients, their families and other allied health and medical professionals to develop treatment plans that are tailored to their specific needs and goals. She delivers practical strategies and interventions and aims to provide coping skills that will enhance a client’s daily functioning. Penny has a passion for helping young people to implement positive changes in their lives.
